Do the Five – Help Stop COVID-19
1. Wash Your Hands
Washing your hands frequently and properly is our biggest defense against the spread of the virus. Using soap and warm water, wash your hands and wrists for a minimum of 20 seconds whenever possible, especially before and after eating, after using the restroom, and any other time you can. If there is no soap and water available, use an antibacterial hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content to kill the germs on your hands.
2. Keep Your Distance
Practice keeping your distance when in the presence of others to limit your exposure to people around you. Stand or sit at least 1 meter or 6 feet away from each other as recommended by the CDC.
3. Coughing and Sneezing
Don’t cough or sneeze into your hands – this is one of the easiest ways for the virus to spread as you transfer the germs from your hands onto surrounding surfaces where others may pick them up. Flex your arm and use your elbow to shield the environment around you.
4. Don’t Touch Your Face
Coronavirus can enter your body from your nose, eyes, or your mouth. Avoid touching your face as much as possible – and if you bite your nails – this is a great time to quit that bad habit!
5. STAY HOME
The most important thing we can do as citizens is to stay home and practice social distancing. By limiting your exposure to other people, we can help flatten the curve and begin to recover as the virus loses hosts.
